After three years of dedicated service, our CEO Daniel Cheesman will be stepping down in November to take on a new role as Regional Director of Healthcare Operations at Sue Ryder in the South West.

Daniel will remain with us until mid-November to support a smooth handover. From then, our Director of Care, Andrea Choules, will step in as Interim CEO, supported by the Trustees. Andrea knows Jessie May, our families, and our mission deeply, and brings the experience and commitment needed to guide us through this transition.

Reflecting on his time at Jessie May, Daniel said:

“Being CEO of Jessie May has been the highlight of my career. Jessie May is a truly special charity, created 30 years ago by the parents of Jessica-May Purrington. During my time here I have met so many wonderful people and worked alongside dedicated colleagues who every day put the child at the centre of everything we do. I am proud of what we have achieved together, and I leave knowing the Jessie May community will continue that commitment.”

Tiggy McCool, Chair of Trustees, added:

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I want to thank Daniel for his leadership and commitment to Jessie May. His dedication has guided the charity through a period of transformation, always keeping children and families at the heart of every decision. We are grateful for everything he has done and wish him every success in his new role.”

Our focus remains where it has always been, on providing the very best care and support for children and families. We are so grateful for the ongoing trust and support of our community, which makes this possible every single day.
