Amazon Family Parcels 2021

Jessie May families and staff have received a donation of wellbeing hampers from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Avonmouth in a pilot scheme with Together for Short Lives.

We are proud to be one of the 54 children’s hospice services that work with Together for Short Lives, who aim to help every child and family living with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition get the very best care and support they can so they can make the most of every moment together.

The Amazon team donated more than 200 hampers, which were distributed to Jessie May families across Bristol. A welcome treat for families who are having to isolate and shield to keep their seriously ill children safe.

The hampers were picked, packed and delivered by the team in Avonmouth and included family board games, biscuits, flavoured tea and bath bombs.

The Amazon team also prepared hampers for the Jessie May staff, which contained water bottles, scented candles, hand sanitisers and boxes of chocolates.

Speaking about the donation, Lindsey Horton, Corporate Partnerships Officer at Jessie May, said;

“We were so delighted to be chosen as the recipients of the pilot scheme from the Amazon team at Avonmouth, and we want to say a huge thank you to their entire team for their incredible generosity. A lot of our Jessie May families, like most across the country, have found the last year difficult with the challenges that lockdown has brought. These parcels have provided a real boost to the children and their families at the beginning of what looks to be yet another challenging year – so thank you Amazon!”

Pat Faulkner, General Manager at Amazon in Bristol, added:

“We are very proud to be a part of this special project and we thank Together for Short Lives for making this possible. We hope the hampers will provide comfort to children and families across Bristol when they are shielding.”

The donation was made as part of the “Amazon in the Community” programme, whereby the company supports the communities around its operating locations across the UK.

Community donations are one of a number of ways in which Amazon is supporting communities across the UK during COVID-19.

Amazon is providing disadvantaged students with online STEM courses as well as teaming up with charity partner Magic Breakfast and delivering over 2 million healthy breakfasts to families around the UK.
