The Sodbury Slog is quite simply…not for the faint-hearted!
Sodbury Slog 2026 – Run for Charity for Jessie May
Forget roads – they’re for wimps! The Sodbury Slog 2026 is a tough, muddy, multi-terrain running challenge through some of South Gloucestershire’s most stunning countryside – and it’s a brilliant way to run for charity for Jessie May.
Jessie May provides specialist care and support for babies and children with life-limiting conditions, helping families make the most of their precious time together at home. By taking on the Sodbury Slog and fundraising for Jessie May, you can turn every muddy mile into vital support for local families.
At around 9.5 miles, the Sodbury Slog is a proper running challenge. The route is a mix of tarmac, grass and muddy tracks, with hills, water and plenty of opportunities to get filthy. The exact distance can vary depending on conditions – and, occasionally, where the cows decide to position themselves on race day.
What you can guarantee is that it will be wet, muddy, scenic and as hard as you want it to be.
Run for Charity with Jessie May
If you’re looking for a memorable way to run for charity, the Sodbury Slog is the perfect challenge. Whether you’re an experienced fundraiser, taking on your first charity event or getting a group of friends together, you can raise money for Jessie May while tackling one of the region’s most distinctive running events.
Your fundraising helps Jessie May continue providing specialist nursing care, support and practical help to families caring for a seriously ill child. Every mile you run and every pound you raise can help make a difference to families who need it.
The Slog is a race for all abilities and standards. Some runners will be aiming for a fast finish, while others will be taking on the course simply to complete it. You can race, jog or tackle it with friends – just be prepared for the mud.
A Proper Multi-Terrain Challenge
This is not a road race.
The course takes you away from smooth tarmac and into the countryside, with a mixture of grass, tracks, hills, muddy sections and water. Your trainers will get ruined. Your legs will get tired. You’ll probably get considerably muddier than you expected.
That’s the Sodbury Slog.
Tie your laces tight, get out fast and be ready for whatever the course throws at you. Just watch what you swallow – not everything on the course is water.
The challenge is tough, but that’s what makes finishing so satisfying. Whether you’re chasing a personal best or simply trying to stay upright, there’s plenty of atmosphere and encouragement along the route.
South Gloucestershire Countryside
The Sodbury Slog takes runners through some of South Gloucestershire’s beautiful countryside, combining a challenging course with spectacular surroundings.
Around 1,300 runners from across the UK and around the world take part each year, creating a brilliant atmosphere from the start line to the finish.
It’s a chance to get outside, challenge yourself, run with friends and raise money for a great cause – all in one very muddy morning.
Remembrance Sunday
The Sodbury Slog takes place each year on Remembrance Sunday.
Before the race begins, the event is preceded by an exhortation, two minutes’ silence and the playing of the Last Post. It is a moving and respectful part of the day and an important Sodbury Slog tradition.
Then it’s time to get muddy.
